The weekend of October 22nd-23rd, the UCSD Equestrian Team headed off to Cal Poly Pomona for the first show of the season. We had an early birthday celebration for captain Aleena Karamally, thank you to her mother for hosting us this weekend! It was also the first IHSA show for our freshmen, Dani Sprouse and Sasha Doval; great job for making it through your first show!
On the first day of the show, Aleena Karamally placed fourth in intermediate fences and intermediate flat and Jamie Lee placed third in novice flat. Dani Sprouse placed fourth in beginning walk, trot, canter, and Madeline Haff placed fifth, also in beginning walk, trot, canter, allowing her to point out and move up to advanced walk, trot, canter.
On Sunday, Karamally placed third in both intermediate fences and intermediate flat. Bahar Salehi placed sixth in advanced walk-trot-canter and Sprouse placed sixth in beginning walk, trot, canter. Alyssa Franklin placed second and walk, trot, and also pointed out, allowing her to advance to beginning walk, trot, canter.
Thank you to Dani for working so hard as horse manager, Summer Rose for coming to help out and support your teammates, and Arianna Gorman for also helping out with the horses. Everyone rode really well and we had an excellent start to the season!
